Brothers James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier published My Brother Sam Is Dead in 1974. They introduced us to Sam and his brother Tim along with the entire Meeker family. The book takes place starting in 1775 during the time period of the start of the American Revolution. Throughout the tour, many locations will be mentioned and given visualization to display the information from the book and city provided.
The introductory of the book starts with Sam coming home and explaining that they have beaten the British when they were looking for Mr.Adams and Mr.Hancock as they marched up to Lexington, then some of the Massachusetts Minutemen tried to stop them, but there were too many British, causing them to go up to Concord to look at amunition stores. Meeker always goes to bring cattle in return for supplies needed for the family tavern. During the Revolutionary War, the Battle of Stony Point and Verplanck's Point was a major topic around the area of Verplanck's Point. This nighttime attack in 1779, resulted in George Washington's Continental Army troops defeating the British troops approximately 30 miles north of New York City (see pictures 1-3 for Battle of Stony Point visuals).
North Salem is where Tim and his father arrived safe and sound when they were on their trip to Verplanck's Point. They were stopping there for the night for shelter and to catch up with their cousins, the Platt family.
