Most people think of heroes as famous people who did something heroic in their life. But in reality hero’s are also just ordinary people. One ordinary hero is a man named William Kyle Carpenter who jumped on a grenade to shield his friends. Everyday citizens can be heroes too. A hero is smart, responsible and fearless.

First, a hero has to be smart because they have to know what to do in certain scenarios because if they do not know how to react something tragic could happen. A smart hero is versatile, prepared, clever, quick and intelligent. One smart hero is a 25 year old girl named Tamara. She was on a elevator with her two dogs when something tragic took place. Her dog Vado’s leash got stuck in the elevator doors when the doors shut. Tamara knew she had to react fast. She quickly reacted to the incident and was able to get her dog free. Tamara also broke her finger in the process. This story to me shows someone who is smart and knows how to react fast. A hero isn’t foolish, ignorant, or clumsy because a hero is always humble, smart and knows how to approach a situation.

A responsible hero is always mature, trusty and reliable. A responsible hero is Candy Lightner - the reason why we have laws against drinking and driving. Candy is the organizer and president of MADD which stands for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. She came up with this organization after her 13 year old daughter was hit by a truck driver that was intoxicated.
