In the story “My Father’s Last Testament” the reader is introduced into the life of a young Jewish woman named Bella and her experience during the Holocaust. She tells the story of the oppression and discrimination her family and all Jews went through during these years. Bella was separated from her family on June 4th 1943 where she was taken into a bunker by a sympathetic Christian with the Konigsberg's , another Jewish family, and stayed there until they were free. Being that Bella was so family oriented, it was hard for her to live without them but her father last testament to her saying that she must return to the Land of Israel and live there gave her the will to survive the conditions of the bunker and the people who she shared it with. Up to 6 million fellow Jews were killed and many of the ones who survived had a number of health problems in the physical way they were treated but also how it affected them psychologically. While Bella did have to go through some labor, she was hidden in a bunker where she shared with another family while Elie was moved from camp to camp and was working in the labor force to stay alive. They both also lost their parents to the holocaust and while Elie was separated from his mother and sisters, he still had his father for a long period of time and he always had someone that was there for him while Bella had to go through this without her family and considered herself an orphan after learning upon her family’s death. We see that they both had many horrible things done to them nevertheless, the only real difference between these two stories is the fact that they were placed in different situations and survived in different matters, one by hiding the other by
