What is identity? Some will say identity is the personality of an individual, others will say it’s a person’s behavior and response to situations. In my opinion, a person’s identity is created through multiple aspects. Our identity is what makes us who we are. Identities allow us to differ from everyone. With that being said, my family, sports, and education have had the most impact on shaping the person I’ve become today. Throughout my life, my family has always been there, supported me, and loved me. A few years ago, there was a time in my life where I experienced self-esteem issues. I always thought body image was everything. I used to compare the way I looked with the way others looked. I believed I wasn’t pretty or fit enough, and was unhappy with myself. If you absolutely don’t like the way you look then all you need to do is change your eating habits and how much you exercise.” As they would repeat this to me, I came to realize that they were right. If I really wanted to change, I was the one that needed to do something about it. I shouldn’t expect results if I don’t put in the effort.
