One’s personality and identity can be based off of many different things. Identity is an important factor in life because it is how people associate themselves and how others view them. There are many things that have shaped my identity, but my attitude toward being more mature than the others at my school has been a very big thing in defining who I am. As a child, I was always around adults and I listened to them talk and speak with each other. I learned about the world through listening to them and I understood how adults saw the world. I remember in second grade; my family, neighbors, and I were gathered around our kitchen table discussing the upcoming presidential election. I have learned more about life and different experiences from different people, so I have learned some beneficial tips about how I should live my life. I have also made some adult friends that share common interests that I do and that I enjoy talking to. Many young kids my age don’t read very much, or they don’t read the books that I enjoy reading. I have found some really great adult friends that love reading as much as I do and we are able to talk about different books that we have read. One man named Justin has showed me tons of new books and authors that I have enjoyed. He has helped me feel better about being mature for my age because he was in my shoes when he was in high school. He has made me realize that I am not alone and that it is a blessing. With me having a strong personality and having goals for my life, I’ve also gained respect by many. My voice is heard and important to both adults and kids my age, and I am able to gain the respect of people very easily by showing that I am very mature and not just a young and unexperienced
