My Leadership Philosophy

The definition of leadership varies from different types of people and there is not a one true definition. My definition of leadership is the ability to serve a group of followers by effectively influencing them and help guide them in the right direction to achieve a goal. There are many approaches to leadership, therefore someone has to have their own approach to be a more effective leader. My approach to leadership includes the ability to communicate and listen to others. Bernard M. Barush stated, "most of the successful people I've known are the ones who do more listening than talking." You always gain knowledge by listening to people who had different backgrounds and views. The duties that I have to perform as a beta officer require me to work with Beta Club officials from the state and nation. With my other two state officers, I have the responsibly to discussion, organize, coordinate the convention that has an attendance of 1,800 members from around the state. As a national officer, I get the opportunity to travel to different areas of the United States. At those conventions, I deliver speeches on being fearless in you life. You should not let your fears push away the dreams that you have set for yourself. I also get the opportunity to converse with betas from different states and opinions They tell me what ideas on what will improve conventions. I plan on implementing some of these ideas as I plan the Beta Club National Convention which is located in New Orleans this year. 5,000 members will be in attendance so I have to work with the National Beta Headquarters, so we can make sure this convention run …show more content…
I know how to work with people who may not completely agree with me at times. I can speak in front of thousands and use my position to raise the concerns of others who may have not have the opportunity to speak. My future goals include majoring in some pre-law program and attending law school. The reason I want to become a lawyer because that job allows me to work and serve people. As a lawyer, I would like to do pro bono work in poor areas in my community. In that position, those who may not afford adequate representation in court and can receive the proper counsel. I have no interest in working for a big law firm because it will not allow me to work with poorer Americans. Many people pursue a career in law because of the potentially high salary, but I am passionate about serving the areas that makeup my
