My Leadership Philosophy

According to Oxford dictionaries, a leader is “the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country”. Superficially, that definition is accurate, yet it fails to thoroughly address the characteristics that differentiate a leader from someone who is in charge. Leadership is not about control, but about uniting a group of people in an effort to achieve a common goal. Throughout high school, I have had several leadership opportunities and each has prepared me for the next.
As a leader I charge myself with ensuring that each member of the group I am guiding collaborates and feels comfortable voicing his or her opinion. When I am organizing high school outings at church as the youth council representative, I allow everyone involved
