“My number One” Personally, everyone I know has experienced that “Aha!” moment in their life that has changed the way they look at the world. There are so many things that can give a person that feeling of change. Some of the most dramatic I have come across are a soldier’s first moment at war, the harsh reality for a mother that has lost her child, and the experience of falling in love for the first time. I can remember the exact place and time that my view on the world changed. I was a 13 year old girl who didn’t grasp what “forever” even meant. What mattered most was annoying my older sisters and impressing the other kids at school, but as I was rushed to the hospital one night, none of these actions crossed my mind. I sat in an uncomfortable chair in the waiting room of a local hospital trying not to fall apart. My hands were wrapped around my legs with my feet on the edge of the seat, and to anyone that walked by I looked as if I was trying to take up as little space as possible by hugging myself. There was a television playing in the background, but no one was watching it, everyone was wrapped up in their own world with each of us worrying about a loved one. I starred at the wall anxious and worried, praying to God that everything would be all right. I heard other people in the waiting room talking but couldn’t force myself to listen; I just had so many thoughts going through my head. My chair faced the wide double doors of the emergency room that my sister Angel had disappeared in, and I couldn’t seem to take my eyes off them. I reached up and pulled my jacket over my nose, I couldn’t stand the smell of the room any longer. The smell of too many chemicals and sick people made the gloomy grey walls seem to pull at me, making me start to feel all the more anxious. The clock on the wall ticked away slowly, and as the hours passed my anxiety only increased. Finally, at three in the morning, a young doctor walked into the waiting room with an expression I couldn’t read. Somehow I knew before he said anything that he had news about my sister. My heart started racing as the doctor looked around the room and said, “Nichols’ family?” My mother got out of the seat next to mine and
age, if they had any underlying medical conditions that may require my partner to take any medication such as an inhaler, we also asked how fit our partner was in general life as this would affect their recovery time as it may take them longer to recover if they were unfit.
We also had to ask our partners if they had ate breakfast because if they hadn’t their body may react differently as to someone who had breakfast.
Before my partner did her exercise I checked her resting pulse, blood pressure…
happening to me, whether it was my fault or not, it happened to me. From family members dying to losing one hundred dollars in the same day that I got it, I been through it all. Who knew it was possible to have up to 18 years of bad luck? Will I Ever catch a break?
That is exactly how my life was up until I went to Young’s Supermarket and played the lottery for the first time in my life. I picked the numbers four, nine, twenty, six, and seven. I said all of these numbers just knowing that it was silly…
where you skate from 7pm to 7am. Every year me and all of my friends went, it was “the thing” to do back then. One year in particular was my favorite, 2009 to be exact. It was the night I met the person I’ll be spending the rest of my life with.
My friend Devin was there who I had known since the beginning of middle school, so it wasn’t a surprise that I was looking for him when I heard he was there. Devin was a dancer, and a good one at that. He had a group called Slide Five which consisted…

I am in the airport waiting on the next leg of my flight. I sit down closest to the walkway so that I can reach the hotspots from several different restaurants in the vicinity of my gate. I start up my wireless-equipped laptop and I wait to see what is available and in what range from me. Whatever hotspots show up I have to accept and initiate the connection on the one with the best signal to my laptop. Most times you have to pay for the service or accept some terms to…
Duty Amongst Ones Morality
Kant provides a number of interesting and thought provoking ideas based around the concept of morality in his book, “Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals”. He claims there is a systematic formula to ethics which consists of law, respect, and duty. After reading Kant's Grounding I found his views on the concept of duty to be by far the most intriguing aspect of his book. Although at times I found the concepts of Kant to be very complex and hard to fully grasp…
An Investigation into the Language used in Children’s Advertising
In my investigation I am going to analyse the language used in children’s television advertising looking specifically at whether the language used is aimed primarily at the children or their parents.
I have chosen to look at the language used in children’s advertising because…

The relief compared to the number of species in each 30 metre
In transect one we saw a relatively smaller number of species of plant than in transects two and three, whereas the vertical incline only varied point one of a meter. While in transect two we saw a relatively large number of species (eight) that occurred across a…
Question of God
In modern day America, I believe that people question the thought of God because there is little proof in his existence. In an effort to support my beliefs I will draw from the practices of Plato, who was a student of Socrates in ancient Greece. Considered one of the great ancient Greek thinkers, Plato spent most of his life developing his Theory of Ideas, which was a significant part of his philosophical beliefs. While Plato is thought to have expressed many of Socrates…
Descriptive statistics are used by psychologists to summarize and describe a group of numbers from a research study. Descriptive statistics describes what the data that we are trying to make sense of is showing in a simpler way. Also descriptive statistics helps simplify quantitative descriptions, meaning it is putting the quantitative data in to an easier way to understand instead of having a significant amount of numbers to look at.
A way this could be used in everyday life is looking at a GPA. I work…
Of the seven habits, I feel that I practice number 5, seek first to understand, then be understood and number 6, synergize the most. I think my ability to synergize positively affects my teamwork skills. I can work with just about anyone and working with children helps you to hear and seek to understand others before yourself. A lot of times, I feel that people are more apt to hear you and try to understand you when you've been understanding. I am going to school to become a counselor and I feel…
