I chose nursing as my profession because I wanted a purpose for my life and I feel like this is it. I’ve always wanted to work in health-care and nursing just fit well with what I wanted to do and my personality. I chose nursing because nursing is all about helping people through a rough time and that’s exactly what I’ve always wanted to do was to help people get better. I believe that the core of nursing is caring because that is exactly what nursing is, caring for others who may have no one to care for them and people who can’t care for themselves. In addition, I think the concept of person also has to do with yourself and how you approach situations when caring for your patients and your personality. I, for one, stay motivated by taking care of other people and being the person, they rely on because it fulfills me and makes me feel good. It makes me think that I have a purpose, which is nursing. This, also, motivates me to become a better nurse and to care for people better. My philosophy relates to the concept of health because when you are caring for someone you are not just caring for the illness, but the whole person and this is where holistic nursing comes in. You are taking care of the body, mind, and spirit. This what I mean when I say that I want to help someone and get them back to their optimal health, I mean I want to get them healthier as a whole not just the illness.
