My Rights My rights as a citizen as written “... all men are created equal… with certain unalienable rights… Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” (Jefferson, Doc. E). and the best government that would best protect those rights reads in Doc C by Charles de Montesquieu “There are three kinds of power… the legislative, the executive, and the judicial powers… there would be no freedom if the same man or the same group controlled all three powers at once.” (Montesquieu, Doc C). This combined with “To secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed… whenever any form of government become destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it…” (Jefferson, Doc E). As all put together, Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness are the rights of the people and myself and as for the best government to protect these rights are three branches of government controlled by three separate groups, one for each branch.
