Censorship is words, images, or any ideas that are offensive to people. Censorship has been a major part of American history. Many books have been censored in the last couple of years, in schools libraries and many more places. “My Sister's Keeper” was banned and censored. It was about this family and they had two kids but when they found out their daughter Kate had leukemia they didn't know what to do. So they decided to have another baby to be her doner, but when Anna the main character turned thirteen she did not want to do that any more, and got a layer to help her. Then the unexpected happened and she got in a car wreck with her lawyer and was left brain dead and her kidneys went to her sister and Kate lived and Anna died. It was published in 2004 and banned in 2009. It was banned because there was bad language, religious viewpoint sexism, and the age group the books is in (Twenty First Century American Novellits 3). …show more content…
The book had a lot more value in it then it is said to have it pushes the family to go through something every parent dreads of having to do. From (Kirkus Reviews) I learned that this book tests parents on what it is like to be a good parent during this tough time. I learned that you have to be a good sister and a good person to be able to go through that with her. I also learned that it is morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child's life. “My sister's keeper” is considered one of the seventh most challenged books in 2009.
