My Softball Career

“Can I put your daughter in?” That’s what my scared softball coach asked my mom before putting me in the game, and starting my softball career. I was the worst player on the team, more of a cheerleader, but little did my coaches know that with a little bit of practice I would be a four year varsity starter, and softball would soon become a huge part of my life. Softball has always been an immense part of my life since the age of 12. Softball has brought injuries, new teams, obstacles, and college softball, but I wouldn't trade the experiences I have had for anything.

He began to tell us that he has been keeping something from us since February of that year, I could tell something was wrong because our JV coach was already crying. He began to tell us that he has a disease called Multiple sclerosis (MS). Immediately the whole varsity team burst into tears. This meant that Jeremy would not be able to coach us anymore. He explained that each person who has MS has different symptoms, his was caused by stress, he would get a shooting feeling all over his body that would leave him in immense pain. Having someone who is practically the team's second dad tell us that he will have to retire from coaching killed us. One quote that has always stuck with our team that he told us was “Win your battle one step at a time”. This quote got us through a lot as a team, he is telling us that in every play or at every at bat to take it one step at a time and don't rush ourselves. This is obviously applying to him as well, as he is fighting a battle bigger than any of us. Jeremy also told us he will be our biggest fan but also our biggest critic, he is still a coach in most of our eyes. It's hard seeing the best coach I have ever had become our biggest fan.
Recently I tried out for the SMSU softball team, and I made it. This is the next step in continuing my softball career and I have never been more excited
