Being a leader means to have the ability to compromise, the skills to pay attention well, and the capacity to empathize. I have influenced people to help them find the middle ground to themselves. In High school, I participated in band. Because of band I was able to talk to students about the importance of music and how to be ready for the real-world problems. Being responsible for a group of individuals to show them discipline is something that I will treasure forever because I was given that opportunity for two years to help some of the most talented people that I have met in band. However, those experiences have made into a much stronger person. Because of those experiences I wouldn’t have been taught the value of things and how to see the world from a different perspective. It is all thanks to the greatest fine arts activity in the world, band that has taught me this. My Sophomore year of High School was the second year being exposed to State Solo and Ensemble. To get to that point I had to first go to the local Solo and Ensemble and play a solo by memory. This brought anxiety and fear because my Freshman year was a disaster at the State solo. When Sophomore year came I pushed myself every day to play with correct notes, tempo, and dynamics. Fortunately, I never gave up and I learned my solo not only to understand it but feel it when playing. I was confident in myself and I knew that all my hard work would eventually pay off. When State came around I received a Division 2 on my solo which was great accomplishment for me. Band has made me a better person and has taught me that there are no short cuts in life. We must work hard for what we want and not give up when we fail. I am a hard-working person that loves working to achieve my goals. Therefore, I consider myself different from
