Myers-Briggs Personality Analysis

There are sixteen distinct personality types provided by the Myers-Briggs Personality Test. There are many similarities and differences between each of these types, the focus here is on the ENFJ personality type. The strengths and weaknesses as well as advantages and possible pitfalls will be explored. By applying this personality type to myself I have been able to both highlight potential areas of excellence, some previously explored some newly discovered, as well as areas of potential devastation. The N indicates that in addition to being an extraverted person I am also intuitive. The second alphabetical indicator, N in my case, represents whether a person is either sensing or intuitive. According to Robbins and Judge (2009) “Sensing types are practical and prefer routine and order. They focus on details. Intuitives rely on unconscious processes and look at the “big picture”” (p.108). This specific personality trait has also suited me well throughout my career. Implementing this character trait, again usually unknowingly, has allowed me to be an “out of the box” thinker. My career in the military, and more specifically the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG), has flourished because of my utilization of this forward thinking approach. This personality is known to be a good teacher and or salesperson. This is a dynamic personality that is often loved by others due in large part to their uncanny ability to place others needs above their own. Throughout this project I have been able to better understand myself, as it pertains to my personality type. While it is not practical to apply these characteristic as absolute, they are a great road map that will help guide me to even greater success throughout my career. I have learned that I must be extremely mindful of my time management and potential for procrastination. I have noticed these things being a hindrance in my past; however, this project has given me a better understanding as to why and how to mitigate them. I have realized that my want to help others, be sociable, and look at the big picture to accomplish the mission is a good combination when managed
