In going forward, I would focus on utilizing assessments such as the Myers-Bringgs Type Indicator (MBTI) which was developed Isabel Briggs Meyers and Catherine Briggs based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types. This will allow me to help the client have more understanding as to their interest and where she would like to move in her career. It might also give suggestions as to career choices of individuals with a similar personality type. I would also implement the Strong Interest inventory (SII) to further narrow the client interest and to provide with more possible career choices. This will all be in an attempt to help the client further expand the possibilities in moving forward with her career all while considering all of her strengths as identified during the visualization exercise. I will have to continue by validating the clients experience of growing up in a Hispanic family and some of the pressure that comes in terms of succeeding with academics. For the intake I decided to go with the Career in Culture intake outline as it provided questions that I thought would draw more useful information from my client who was from Puerto Rican decent. It was easy to explain the limitation of confidentiality as I have done it many times in my internship. I however felt a little overwhelmed with all the questions that were part of the intake sheet. This nervousness, did not show in the video after I had reviewed it. There were times that I was using my hands to explain something. This was probably part of my nervousness in asking the questions from the intake sheet. However, there was a point in which the client seemed to be more relaxed and the session was more conversational.
