Brainstorming
Brainstorming is a process that works well to help team members contribute ideas and build upon each other’s thoughts. In this case NIBCO INC. could use Brainstorming to gather the team in a room and talk about what they see as the pros and cons to undertaking the implementation. Each team member would get a chance to share their thoughts and this forum serves as a no judgment zone, i.e. anything goes. This could work well if the team brainstorming has task disagreements versus interpersonal disagreements. Task disagreements are when the team disagrees about the project or issue at hand, this is healthy because it allows the team to look at the problem or process at hand from various frames versus just one perspective. However, interpersonal disagreements in brainstorming can lead to unresolved issues and not allowing everyone to share their opinions. Therefore, Brainstorming would only be recommended to NIBCO INC. if the team had no residual interpersonal conflicts.

It is similar to brainstorming, but takes the process to the next level. After identifying the problem the team is asked to write down their own thoughts on sticky-notes. Then each team member gets a chance to share their thoughts which are then scribed on the board. After all team members have shared their thoughts the team votes on which ideas are most important and the idea with the most votes takes the highest priority rank, and so on. NIBCO INC. team members could use this technique to discuss what the needs for their customers that they are not meeting and rank them based on priority. Then, the team could brainstorm ideas of how to meet those needs, which may or may not include the implementation of SAP
