Measuring the expected outcomes and the effectiveness of the activities mentioned above will take place through surveys and interviews in Washington County. A survey and interview will be available to clients of the Narcan Van. The community will also be able to participate in a survey related to the perceived impacts on residents of Washington County, Pennsylvania.
Tools. The survey for clients and community members will be used to measure how effective narcan is in preventing heroin-related deaths in Washington County. The survey will be voluntary, anonymous, and participation in it does not affect a client’s accessibility to services offered by the Narcan Van. The client survey asks participants for gender, age, and race. It also asks for the preferred drug choice, the route of administration, how many times the participants has witnessed an overdose, how many times they have overdosed, and if they have overdosed in the last three months. It also inquiries about intentional versus accidental overdoses. The survey then goes on to ask if the client was administered narcan and the general outcome of the overdose. There are several advantages to in-person interviewing (Chuck & Schutt, 2011).
