When I was in kindergarden I didn’t like or care about school that much, so I didn’t do that good and my parents thought it would be best for me to stay another year in that grade. The next year was torture so ever since then education became a main priority in my life because I didn’t want to feel that failure ever again. That incident pretty much helped to shape my cultural identity. I am a white boy that loves god and the catholic religion, values education to the fullest, and that is addicted to the game of basketball. Above all, I love god and my catholic religion. I was introduced to the catholic religion by my parents when they started bringing me to church and sending me to catholic education classes at the age of 5. My parents always tell me to pray to god every night to ask for his forgiveness of sins and to show him my eternal love for him. My whole culture identity surrounds the idea of my love for god. I fell in love with basketball on my own when I would play during physical education class in elementary school. Now all I do is shoot basketball when I have free time. My parents don't really like basketball. Their cultural identity varies from mine when it comes to sports. My dad prefers fixing up truck while my mom enjoys technology. Basketball is involved in every aspect of my cultural identity because all I do is talk or shoot basketball, so my parents still try to enjoy it because I do. In conclusion, my cultural identity revolves around loving god, valuing education, and playing basketball. If my parents wouldn't have held me back in school my cultural identity would be totally different, so I thank them for making me into the person I am today.
