Harrison- Whether you are a student or a working adult you always have to follow the rules.Miss Narwin, of Harrison High, was only following the rules when she sent , Philip Malloy to the office for causing a disturbance during a moment when all students must be silent to listen to the national anthem. Philip then repeated this commotion for the following two days. Causing a disturbance more than twice in a week at Harrison High results in a two-day suspension. However, Philip Malloy and Margaret Narwin were in for more than they expected.

Margaret Narwin was asked to resign after her service of over twenty years at Harrison High. She was accused by people from all over the country that she had suspended Philip Malloy, however she did

Palleni’s question of how loud was he singing, he said “ No.Not at all.Just,you know, sort of to myself.Almost humming.” So Philip was not suspended for singing or humming the national anthem, but for causing a disruption. He was given the chance to apologize and keep his clean record but he chose the suspension.

Even though there is no rule about singing the national anthem, in Harrison Highs morning memo all students are asked, “Please all stand at respectful, silent attention for the playing of our national anthem.”Jennifer Stewary’s article included many mistakes including that as the title says Philip Malloy was “KICKED OUT OF SCHOOL FOR PATRIOTISM” when he was suspended for other reasons. This article was the reason many thought Margaret Narwin was responsible for this whole incident.

Margaret Narwin explained , “... I feel like I’ve been mugged. Assaulted.” She was accused wrongly for just following the rules. Allison Doresett one of her students said, “ Narwin is one of the best teachers.’’ Harrison High wrote on their morning memo, “It is the responsibility of our classroom teachers to monitor student behavior…” This clarified the fact that Ms. Narwin had done nothing
