There are quite a few similarities and distinctions between Uniform Crime Report (UCR), National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) and the Self Reported Surveys. UCR only includes crimes that were reported by police officers. The problem with UCR is there are clear meaning of crime from each officer. Officer also have the opportunity to over report and underreport crimes for there own benefit. Some crimes that are reported are homicide, rape, burglary and etc. NCVS talks to individuals about their involvement in being the victim. People are often more unwilling to share their stories due to being embarrass or still having relationship with the victim. Some disadvantages are it excludes individual under the age of 12 and only collects data
