According to Mrs. Milbrandt, the National Honor Society adviser at Turkey Valley, each step is worth ten points. If any student receives less than seven points for any of the three steps, he or she will not be inducted into National Honor Society. The first step is to write a two page paper. The paper is then read by three staff members. The score from each staff member is then averaged. The paper will include why you want to be a member of national honor society and about your character, leadership, service and scholarship. The next step is to fill out a sheet that shows your history of community service. The last step is character evaluation by teachers. Teachers base students off their character they see the students express on a daily basis. There is not set amount of staff members who can fill out a character evaluation for a student. The character score is then averaged. There is no single group of people who are in charge of selecting the members of National Honor Society at Turkey Valley. The National Honor Society advisor at Turkey Valley has no influence on who becomes a member of National Honor Society. After being inducted into National Honor Society, students are held responsible to keep their GPA above a 3.5 and keep showing good character. If a member’s grade were to fall under 3.5 or if a member breaks a conduct rule, they are dismissed
