Aside from war and terrorism, areas in Africa struggle with an AIDS epidemic. Too often I hear horror stories of young, Sub-Saharan African girls who are raped and then infected with the HIV virus. It is utterly appalling that these girls have their dignity stolen from them, and then are infected with a disease that destroys their health, serving as a reminder of the trauma they underwent. These are the primary reasons I would like to work with organizations that provide a refuge for these Sub-Saharan girls and advocate for justice for the atrocities committed against these innocent girls. Additionally, medical aid is a necessity for assisting these girls, and although I will not have a medical background, I wish to coordinate individuals who do have such credentials and raise money for medications to keep HIV at bay. I do know I have large aspirations for my life, and I might not be capable of completing all my dreams listed above, but if I am able to affect a single person’s life for the better, then I have fulfilled my purpose in life. …show more content…
Currently, I have the most volunteer hours out of the whole the society at 37.5 hours. All of the volunteer hours we earn have to be done through the society, so my hours does not incorporate outside volunteer work I accomplish as well. Personally, National Honor Society has been a blessing when it come to my service work. The society encouraged me to complete more service opportunities and provide me the means to impact the community I live where.
