In the facility I work, one of the National Patient Safety Goals (NSPG) focus is NPSG.07.01.01, applied is the use of hand hygiene and exact procedures, as very critical to reduce the spread of healthcare acquired the disease. The use of soap, water or alcohol hand rubs for 15 minutes 'happy birthday song” at the point of care is critical to improving compliance in these settings. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers have also become handy in my workplace. Each room and work area adequately supplied with these supplies and paper towel, and elbow are used to turn off the tap. Currently, we use two unique patient identifiers, patient’s name and date of birth when administering medications, when collecting blood samples and other specimens for clinical testing and when providing treatments or procedures. The present method can be improved technologically by the use of automated identification; such as bar coding, electronic medication reconciliation, and Barcode medication administration.
