The National Safety Council wants to make sure you have plenty of these moments for years to come. That's why they celebrate June as National Safety Month. The National Safety Council has been America's leading safety advocacy organization for more than 100 years. In 2014, there were more than 53,000 traffic crashes caused by distracted driving in Kentucky, resulting in over 14,000 injuries. As the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet notes, “one text or call could wreck it all.” · Ergonomics: Ergonomic conditions are disorders of the soft tissues often caused by factors such as overexertion while lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, or reaching. Overexertion is the third-leading cause of unintentional injuries in the United States, and millions of people will experience an ergonomic injury in the workplace during their lifetimes. · Emergency preparedness: Daily routines can be disrupted by weather events. It's important to be prepared for emergencies by creating family plans, keeping first aid kits in your house and car, and safeguarding key documents in a locked, fireproof
