The obedience of the Native Americans towards Columbus and other European settlers eventually resulted in the mass genocide of tribes all across present-day America. For example, Colombus reported that the Arawaks of the Bahama Islands “are so naive and so free with their possessions that no one who has not witnessed them would believe it” (3).
