When the English men arrived at the coast of Virginia they had their hopes high, but they will soon be crushed in the massive disappointment that is coming. In is May 1607, at the coast of Virginia, the English men were excited because it is going to be their first permanent English colony. In Jamestown there were no women because they needed to take care of the children. The men would see if it is a safe place for the women and children before they came. Pocahontas is a real person and her father, Wahansonack, is the chief of the Powhatan Indians. Colonists died in the early Jamestown because of three main problems. These problems were starvation, droughts, and poor treatment of Native Americans.

When West came to trade with the Indians for some grain, they said no. So West cut off their heads trying to make them trade which made them very angry. Fausz 63 says “Powhatan’s sieges of Jamestown and killed ninety-one men in November- May 1610.” “At least three more men were killed by a Indian ambush in June- August.” is said by Fausz 63. Colonies died constantly because of Indians attacks. Colonists treated the Native Americans poorly and now they’re getting punished for it.
