Guthrie vs Pavlov
Comprehend: this student will now use the nature of reinforcement theory (p.210) which according to Guthrie, reinforcement changes the stimulating conditions and thereby prevents unlearning. In other words, the last act we perform, if it was successful, that would our first move whenever we are in the same or similar circumstance. For instance, when a child does something wrong, and gets punished for it, the child will remember that punishment, but if the same child does something wrong and is able to escape the consequences of their behavior trough lying, the act of lying will be the first response of that child when she or he is in a similar situation.
Apply: The principle of nature of reinforcement can help this author to understand his habits when it comes to photography, perhaps by figuring out the hours of the day he prefer to take pictures, such as which accessories should be used. To use a recent example, this student recently purchased a macro lens for his camera, and since he got this new lens, he found himself taking a lot more macro pictures than before, because now, the pictures are coming out better than they did before the purchase of the new lens. Once he figure it out the best way to use the macro lens, he have been practicing using it, with the hope that it will become a habit with each time he uses it.
