Negatives of Technology In the novel Fahrenheit 451 the author Ray Bradbury shows examples of how technology will have a negative effect on society. In the year 2016 we can already see the negative effects technology is doing to our society. Technology is making people more lazy through easily accessible knowledge and conveneus. Furthermore, people are getting addicted to and depended on their electrical devices. Finally, technology is making people very awkward and antisocial through isolation. Modern technology has a large influence on laziness. For example, I have had experience with people not wanting to do their homework so they copy information from the internet. Teens now grow up with new technology and look to text people and not have a face-to-face conversation. This problem is affecting them because when they apply for a job then may be awkward. If they listen to music no one will really try to talk to them because they know they probably can not hear them. Sherry Turkle agrees that “young people who have grown up fearing conversation show up on the job wearing earphones.” (Turkle). Families now do not really talk to each other at home unless they are at the dinner table. The kids usually play on their phones or texting and the parents are on FaceBook or checking emails. Unfortunately this is very negative because an family should be involved with one and another and talk places than just the dinner table. It is unfortunate that “families sit together, text and reading e-mail.” (Turkle). If a family talks with one and another they can help with any issues at school or whatever there may be. Technology, though very helpful to society, is becoming very negative. Will technology improve and try to fix most or all the flaws? Most of the world hopes so, but in the end, it is the people that may be the problem. Even without technology people will still find a way to cheat or try to get someone else to drive. There will still be the very awkward people at school or at your workplace. Lastly, phones are like an new drug, causing people to constantly and
