From the perspective of the American Planning Association a city or cities have social equity if groups and individuals are giving the same means to goods, resources, services and experiences, there is adequate protection against social and economic disparities, can publicly engage in decisions and are treated fairly irrespective of race, religion income, age, gender, disability and ethnicity. Social equity planning functions optimally when policies, regulations and plans are fair to every group in the society. Implementing social equity will create a healthy environment and lively community where the society members are happy. Equity means individual in the society can have a job which supply their income, have the means to go to school and resources such as books and learning paraphernalia

Revitalization involves improving the air and water quality, building a pedestrian friendly community which will enhance social cohesion connectivity, and fairness to all individuals of the community.
Gentrification differs from revitalization in that it literally moves lower income families out of undesirable neighborhoods into living spaces that are miles away from their initial homes.
Gentrification residents are unable to acquire wealth and remain highly susceptible to displacement whereas revitalization implements wealth building strategies for existing residents while stabilizing them from displacement pressures.
