“We are part of this universe; we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both those facts, is that the universe is in us.” These words are spoken by one of the most influential and one of the smartest people of our time. He is astrophysicist, a teacher, and an author. A person teaching the world the beauty of our universe and many other things. I am talking about Neil deGrasse Tyson. Today I will educate you about a little history about this man and what his purpose is in the field of science.
The Beginning

Three years later he went to school in the University in Texas, where her got his master’s degree on astronomy. After going to UT, he was pretty much broke and thought about quitting school and work as an Exotic Dancer, but in the end, science and learning was a better choice because it was something he loved. In 1986, He was able to land a job in the University of Maryland as a professor teaching astronomy. 2 years later, he was accepted to the university of Columbia and got his doctorate degree in Philosophy of Astrophysics in 1991. Well, since he wants to teach as many people as possible, he appears almost anywhere from podcasts to kids shows. For instance, in 2009 Tyson got the chance to make his own podcast called, “Startalk’, in which he would bring scientists up to talk about…you guessed it, science. To spice things up he would also invite famous celebrities and comedians onto his show to bring up pop culture references and to apply a little a bit of humor to attract new people into watching his podcast. He also hosted a miniseries named, “Cosmos: A Space Odyssey”. After Carl Sagan (the original host for the show) passed away in 1996, Neil Tyson decided to revive the show in 2014 in honor of Carl Sagan. This 13-episode series dove deep into the universe and spoke about how the universe came to be right on your television screen. As expected, this show did pretty good for itself and was able to grab the attention of viewers. Not only did he make his own content be he appeared in many popular television shows as a cameo for comedy show such as the big bang theory, or like the time he appeared in a popular kid’s cartoon show called, “Gravity falls”. Because he came out in so many television shows and a few movies, he is starting to become a famous science pop culture reference.
