"Compared to major national issues like the economy, national security, healthcare, and immigration, net neutrality barely registered a blip on America's radar, but over the last couple of months net neutrality has resurfaced and caused quite the commotion across the nation.With the new repeal of net neutrality, ISPs are allowed to control the internet fibers they own. These fibers run underground and are the connection or “hotspots” that allow us internet users to access the internet. While letting the ISPs control their own fibers has the potential to improve our economy, the likelihood of consumers continuing to use the internet will decrease. When ISPs start making companies pay for their websites, we could begin to see social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat, charge a monthly fee. On April 13, 2015, the FCC published the final rule on its new ""net neutrality"" regulations. I do not believe the internet should be totally free but Verizon, Comcast, and AT&T have now stated they support the Federal Communications Committee Chairmen and will not be changing their policies on the internet and keep it open to the public however, I believe whatever ISP agency becomes greedy first will ultimately begin the terrible effect of restricting and requiring a user fee to websites and programs on the internet. Democratic lawmakers have pushed Congress to pass a law on the issue. Our only hope for really impacting America and its safety is the government. The Federal Government has the ability to take action and put restrictions on the internet. The Federal Government could put restrictions on inappropriate and illegal websites including the dark
