New Imperialism DBQ As industrialized nations yearned for raw materials for their factories, sought to spread religion and their culture, and wanted to show their dominance, weaker nations were conquered by stronger nations, and new imperialism arose. A boost in their economy allowed European nations to form large armies, which allowed them to conquer using brute force. This new imperialism would lead to the exploitation of non-European countries. Advances in technology led to the growth of factories, and raw materials were needed to supply these factories. The most important import was coal, as coal fueled steam engines, generated electricity, and heat. Parker T. Moon explained how "giant industries [demanded for] colonial raw materials."
