The air held all the magical wonder that was unique to New Orleans. The night sky hovered in a faint indigo glow above the city. Exotic scents drifted from the restaurants of the French Quarter mingling with the unpleasant odor of spilled liquor and beer from Bourbon Street. The sultry, muskiness flowed from the Mississippi River that drew tourist along with locals into its web of mystery. Danger and excitement abounded in this place that was never quite still. The revelers in the streets wandered up and down enjoying all that the city offered.

She found them in the side pocket. They decided to walk the short distance to Café Du Monde as the day was sunny warm but not too humid. A beautiful day.
The last time they were here was years ago. Strolling past bizarre shops and unusual boutiques they got absorbed in the flavor and excitement of the city stopping occasionally to admire the French and Spanish colonial architecture that was distinctive to New Orleans.
Casey marveled at how long some of these buildings had stood, many from the 1700s. “Hey, Ray. The plaque on this building says that the French Market opened its doors in 1791. It’s the oldest public market in the country. Can you imagine how many people have walked down these same corridors?”
“All I care about is finding Café du Monde. I think we’ll find it at the other end of the market, and that’s where I’m going.”
