Nicolaus Copernicus was born on February 19, 1473 in Torun, poland to Nicolaus Copernicus Sr. and Barbra Watzenrode. During the mid 1480s his father had passed away, so his uncle became his guardian. He wanted him to have the best possible education so he sent him to the university of cracow the university of pauda and the university of ferrara to study mathematics, paintings, the cosmos, canon law, and practical medicine.
