If a moment in time is burned into a person's memory can that moment ever be forgotten. In the book Night Elie Wiesel a holocaust survivor writes about his story as a boy having to survive the holocaust. In this book he recites his painful memories using repetition to show that the boy is not just a character in a book but a real person who had to endure an awful period of history. He shares that some the painful memories that still hold with him are of sleeping in the beds of those who are gone, the first time he felt hatred, and watching a friend die.
Departing from those who are close to you and not knowing what will lie ahead can be a traumatic experience in a young person's life. Is it easiest to ignore the unknown or to prepare for it. If a person ignores it then they won't have to worry about what is to come. When ones close to a person are are gone and they are forced to remain in the places they once were what are they to do. He had to watch one of his good friends die right in front of him. Some might say that it is possible to forget. How can a person forget watching his friend die right in front of them. Elie Wiesel is a real person not a charter in the book and when he wakes up in the morning he remembers the awful events that he has witnessed. Tragic memories a persons has can haunt them for eternity, “But ,while running, he began to undo his buttons and yelled to me: “I can't go on. My stomach is bursting…” “make an effort alam...Try…” “I can't go on,” he groaned. He lowered his pant and fell to the ground. That is the image I have of him”. Even when his friend takes the easy way out he still want Ellie to go on and tell the story. If Elie too dies then who will be there too tell their story. If there is no one there to tell story then how will anybody be able to remember what
