The Nine Worlds--Asgard, Midgard, Jotunheim, Vanaheim, Alfheim, Svartalvheim, Helheim, Niflheim, Muspelheim--are of norse mythology. Each world had its own conflicts, characteristics, and tales of woe. Within these attributes each had their own strengths and weakness, heroes and villains, and quests. All of these worlds tie into each other, yet all the worlds have an inevitable end, Ragnarok.

One of the most known conflicts of the nine worlds is the one between the Aesir and Vanir. The Aesir are the Asgardian gods such as, Odin, Thor and Loki. Such as Asgard witch lies at the top of the Yggdrasil, or the tree of the nine worlds. Asgard is considered to be the the Heaven of the Nine Worlds, even though it isn't even a world but an island that floats in space. It also includes Valhalla Odin’s hall for warriors who died an honorable death. These warriors are found by the valkyrie, an army of women sworn to protect the throne. Odin gathers these warriors for Ragnarok, or the end of Asgard. Ragnarok is a prophecy, this prophecy says that all the Nine Worlds will go into war but Asgard will not survive. Midgard is the world between worlds, or earth. Earth, as you know is inhabited by humans there are many . The world of jotunheim is the home of the Giants who are known for having constant love affairs with the gods of asgard. The actual location of Vanaheim is unknown, but based on clue Lokasenna from the poem “Poetic Edda”, that stated “the Vanir god Njord went eastward when he went to Asgard as a hostage at the conclusion of the Aesir-Vanir War.[2] Presumably, then, Vanaheim lies somewhere to the west of Asgard.” Some believe that Vanaheim was a myth but there is but there are many poems like this one that mention Vanaheim directly. Innangard would be considered to be civilized and orderly, where as Utangard is considered wild and chaotic. Jotunheim is mostly wilderness and dark forests with places that are always covered in snow. Niflheim is the world of mist, ice and darkness and is Muspelheim the world of fire’s counterpart . The first being of this world is called Ymir was born when fire and ice met in the middle in Ginnungagap the gorge that used to separate them and their power. Muspelheim is the home of the fire giants. Surt is the ruler of of Muspelheim and is the bringer of Ragnarok he is said come from the south with a sword of fire and slay the gods and the world's, Muspelheim is featured in both the birth and the downfall of the nine worlds.
