1) The mental health service that is nearest to my community, that I have chosen to review is called Northern Initiative for Social Action or NISA for short.
2) The Northern Initiative for Social Action program’s Mission Statement or NISA ‘s statement of purpose is as follows:

NISA’s Mission Statement is: Being, Belonging, Becoming, for all mental health consumers.

NISA’s statement of purpose would be: NISA/Northern Initiative for Social Action is an organization run by and for consumers of mental health services. We develop occupational skills, nurture self-confidence and provide resources for recovery by creating opportunities for participants to contribute to their own well-being and that of their community

NISA helps their members recognize their ability to gain meaningful employment, so that the individual can feel a sense of purpose and value within their community. NISA believes in a system where members need to redefine themselves as untrained or unqualified versus being identified as a person who has a mental health disability. By having the individual identifying him or herself as being unqualified this allows the person to believe all they need to do is to develop the skills necessary to become employable or qualified to live a meaningful life in society.
