When people of two separate cultures live and work together, it is inevitable that the two cultures will mix. This mixing of culture appeared many times in history and is demonstrated throughout the book Nisei Daughter by Monica Sone. In this book, the author points out the integration of American culture within Japanese culture in aspects such as food, clothing, furniture and holidays. These integrations were a result of Japanese American’s desire to blend in with American society. Two such aspects of culture open to integration were food and holidays.
