However, they believe this story happened but it was not over the entire world. The Bible states that rain that created the Noachian Flood lasted for 40 days, that the waters prevailed on the earth for 150 days. It also states that after these 150 days the waters gradually receded from the earth so that by the seventh month and the seventeenth day, Noah's Ark came to rest upon the mountains of Ararat. “This flood was intended by God to destroy all flesh on earthand because sedimentary rocks on all continents contain fossils that supposedly represent the "destroyed flesh of all life." However, the stories do have some distinguished differences. For example, the instructions were different. In Genesis God told Noah the following words “Make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above; and put the door of the ark in its side; make it with lower, second, and third decks” . Some of these instructions are different from the ones giving in The Epic of Gilgamesh. When you analyze the two stories inept several differences are shown. In the two stories the Epic of Gilgamesh God said “On the fifth day I laid out her exterior. It was a field in area, where its walls were each ten times twelve cubits in height, the sides of its top were of equal length, ten times It cubits each. I laid out its interior structure and drew a picture of it. I provided it with six decks, thus dividing it into seven levels. The inside of it I divided into nine compartments. I drove plugs to keep out water in its middle part. I saw to the punting poles and laid in what was necessary.
