I am currently situated in Bunbury, WA. The Aboriginal community is situated in Carey park, a small neighbourhood situated near the race course. Even though they are very much westernised and modernised, the Noongar people are still found in Collie, WA. History with the Noongar started when they used to gather in Bunbury, the Leschenault Estuary, where all the rivers met before flowing into the ocean. The Noongar used to hunt kangaroos, possums, catch fish and gather Balga which they used for medical purposes.

The Noongar people's culture and tradition were disrupted when the European people arrived. They saw the Aboriginals as uneducated, uncivilised with no religion. They used the Noongar men to deliver mail from Bunbury to Pinjarra and beyond and if they refused or didn’t do it they were severely punished.

The current struggles and problems which the Aboriginals are facing today because of the stolen generation is issues such as language and culture that has been lost, nutrition deficiency, alcohol and drug abuse and violence, especially domestic. I think most of the violent issues comes from anger and resentment, and not knowing how to handle it. The feeling of ‘not fitting in’ can have negative effects and unresolved anger towards discrimination, racism and feeling
