“Bullies”
“Tuesday of the other June” by Norma Fox Mazer is a realistic fiction short story about a girl named June who gets bullied mostly about her name. In the beginning, June meets another girl who is also named June. The main character June soon finds out the other June is mean. In the middle, the other June, calls June names, and picks on her. In the end, June gets sick of being called names and getting pranked by the other June every day and stands up for herself. This story shows how she deals with her bully. In the beginning,when they meet June is scared and shy against the other June. The other June and June meet each other in swim class, at the edge of the pool. The two Junes say their names to each other and June says “we have the same name.” The other June says “no we don't. June is my name, I don't give you permission to use it.Your name is fish eyes”and pinched me hard. “ Got it fish eyes” the other June said. She said my weeks were no longer tuesday, wednesday, thursday, and so on. Tuesday was Awfulday. Wednesday was Badday. (The Tuesday bad feelings were still there.) Thursday was Better Day, and Friday was Safe Day. Saturday was Good Day, but Sunday was Too

She also shares with the readers lots of examples of what the other June was doing to her. Some of the examples are “ she stepped on my feet, knotted my braids, hid my blouse, pinched my arms, and knocked into me. June said that she would do this at the edge of the pool, in the pool, in the locker room and if she saw her on the sidewalk outside of swim class too. June’s mother tells her that they will be moving. She gets very excited about moving, so that she doesn't have to deal with the bullying. That excitement soon goes away, when she realizes that they just moved to the exact same neighborhood that the other June lives in. This proves that bullying is hard to deal with especially when you don't tell anyone about
