Medicine safety is one of the National Patient Safety goals in nursing care centers and other healthcare settings to prevent medication errors. Particularly under goal 1 (Improve the accuracy of patient and resident identification), elements of Performance for NPSG.01.01.01 stated, “Use at least two patient or resident identifiers when administering medications” (The Joint Commission, 2017)”. At the Odd Fellows, nurses use facial recognition and patient data to ensure accuracy. In addition to this, before administration of medication nurses apply the three-check system. In this system, the nurses check medication three times before administering it: when taking out medication from the cart, cross check it with the MAR, and finally, by the patient
