The NSW coastal zone contains diverse and fragile environments. With increase in population particularly in coastal areas, increased stress is being placed on coastal environments. Large numbers of resources exists in the coastal zone and there is an ever-increasing desire to use these resources and maximize their potential. Coastal erosion and deposition are natural processes that change the shape of coastlines, building it up in some areas and breaking it down in others.
