● Why is stranded rather than solid cable used for patch cables?
A Solid cable can break easily compared to a stranded cable and that is the reason why they are used behind walls and ceilings. Because patch cables are exposed, using a stranded cables for patch cables makes it more flexible and durable.
● Why is it critical not to score the jacket too deeply when stripping the cable?
Because it could possibly cut the inside copper wires in the cable which will affect the connectivity.
● Why is it recommended to expose more than .5 inches of the wire pairs?
Just in case if you need to cut the wires again if they are not straight before inserting them to the connector and once cutting does not result in a straight line then there
