I have successfully completed my bachelor’s degree in Engineering with Electronics and communication as my specialization. During the period of completion, I have worked on various individual as well as team projects. The major project that I worked on for successful completion of engineering degree was “Vehicle Tracking System” which involved the installation of an electronic device in a vehicle or fleet of vehicles with the custom-designed computer software to enable the owner or a third party to track the vehicle’s coordinates, location & collecting the data in the process. The aforementioned project has been described in detail in the following sections. …show more content…
BACKGROUND:
CE1.2 Nature of the overall engineering project
The project involved designing, analysing, capturing and reporting data using electronic and radio components specifically Zigbee technology. Although the project was challenging and exciting, I learnt detail working principles of different network topologies, modes of operation of various types of transmitters, receivers and wireless networking protocols and finalised Zigbee to be used for the project because of its low power consumption and economical features.
ZigBee is a specification for a suite of high level communication protocols using small, low-power digital radios based on the IEEE 802.15.4-2003 standard for wireless personal area networks(WPANs), such as wireless headphones connecting with cell phones via short-range radio. The technology defined by the ZigBee specification is intended to be simpler and less expensive than other WPANs, such as Bluetooth. ZigBee is targeted at radio-frequency (RF) applications that require a low data rate, long battery life and secure networking.
