What is it?
A CompactPCI (cPCI) system is a 3U or 6U Eurocard-based industrial computer, where all boards are connected via a passive PCI backplane. The PICMG (PCI Industrial Computers Manufacturers Group) US and PICMG Europe organizations have standardised the connector pin assignments . The connectors and the electrical rules allow for 8 boards in a PCI segment. Multiple segments are allowed with bridges.Hot-plugging is a supported feature of CompactPCI.
Not at all like the first Eurocard arrangements, for example, VME, which utilize connectors with a 0.1 inch (2.54 mm) pin dispersing, Compactpci cards use metric connectors with a 2-millimeter pin separating, intended to the IEC 1076 standard. 6u cards have a J1, a J2 that is constantly utilized for 64-bit PCI, and also J3, J4, and J5 connectors for an assortment of employments either as client characterized I/O or

3u sheets have a 110-pin connector (J1), which conveys the 32-bit PCI transport signals, and a discretionary 110-pin connector (J2), which conveys either client characterized I/O or the upper 32-bits of a discretionary 64-bit PCI transport. The backplanes can be intended for 3.3v VIO or 5v VIO operation.
Smaller fringe part interconnect (CPCI) is an adjustment of the fringe segment interconnect (PCI) determination for modern machine applications obliging a littler, more hearty mechanical structure variable than the one characterized for the desktop. Compactpci is an open standard backed by the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturer?s Group (PICMG). Compactpci is best suited
