Synthesize your findings and propose a best-fit method for your dissertation research. Research Methods

Research methods are the strategies used to study something or phenomenon to learn something new or discover new information that contributes or add to existing theories (CITE). Research questions and instruments used to collect data plays a role as to which research method is most appropriate for a study (Choy, 2014). Some researchers apply quantitative research methods to test theories, while others use qualitative research to build onto existing theories (Allwood, 2011; Choy, 2014). Interviewees will be informed they are being recorded during the interviews. After each interview, the recording will be scribed verbatim to ensure accuracy. Field notes will be used to record "observations, thoughts and ideas about the interview... to help in data analysis process" (Gill, Stewart, Treasure, & Chadwick, 2008 NOTE PARAGRAPH NUMBER). Fields notes will be imperative in capturing human emotions that cannot be interpreted in an audio recording.

Analysis

The proposed data coding regimen will be thematic narrative analysis in computer aided qualitative analysis data software (CAQDAS) applications. "Quantitative narrative analysis (QNA) is a social science research method for the analysis of narrative texts" (Franzosi, Doyle, Mcclelland, Putnam Rankin, & Vicari, 2013); the software that will be used is ATLAS.ti.
