Content Free protocol are protocols developed to deal with the issue of collision on a transmission media. It use Bitmap protocol, a method in which a number of nodes need to communicate and Node 0, submits a 1 bits signal thereby taking charge of the transmission media and no other node can engage the line. The next node get a change to submit on the second slot by submitting a 1 bit signal. When the load is low, This method becomes inefficient when the load is low. If a node has to transmit and no other node needs to do so, even then it has to wait for the bitmap to finish. Hence the bitmap will be repeated over and over again if very few nodes want to send wasting valuable bandwidth.

Hidden station and exposed station problem is a wireless network issue in which Access points range overlap some targets - it involve node(s)visible from a wireless access point (AP), but not from other nodes communicating with that AP. As in the example below

As Station A attempts to transmit with B, Station C cannot detection noise on the channel since station A and station C cannot hear each other since they are on different transmission ranges, and station C may also want to transmit B which can lead to collision. The diagram depict the Exposed problem where station C wants to transmit with station but decides to wait because it hears signal transmissions between stations A and B

Time-domain reflectometry or TDR is a measurement technique used to determine the characteristics of electrical signal and how they are transmitted or reflected in an electrical or optical transmission media such as coaxial cable and optical fiber. It is a technique used to analyze if the medium is okay for transmission or broken at some point.
