Discuss the case when the load is low or high in a Bit Map Protocol. What will be the wait slot for a low numbered station and high numbered station?

Collision occurs when two frames are transmitted simultaneously and they overlap in time, resulting in a distorted signal. It affects the overall performance of the system. This can be observed especially when the distance between stations is large and the packet length is short. There are some protocols which can resolve this problem of collision. These protocols are: Bit-map protocol and Binary count down.

Bit map protocol is also known as Collision free protocols is a simple reservation based protocol. In this protocol time is divided into transmission periods, each transmission period consisting of a Bit Map slots in the beginning of the transmission periods, followed by a Data transmission period composed of a variable number of data packet slots. All data packet slots are of the same size, whereas the bit map slot is of a different size. At the start of a given transmission periods, all users having packets to

Every station located in this range can hear any signal transmitted by C. Station C is outside the transmission range of B and station B is outside the transmission range of C. However station A, is in the area covered by both B and C. It can hear any signal transmitted by B or C. Assume that station B is sending data to station A. In the middle of this transmission, station C also has data to send to station A. As, station C is out of B's range and transmissions from B cannot reach C. Therefore C thinks the medium is free. Station C sends its data to A, which results in a collision at A because this station is receiving data from both B and C. In this case, we say that stations B and C are hidden from each other with respect to A. Hidden stations can reduce the capacity of the network because of the possibility of
