The handheld device I decided to examine was a PlayStation 4 controller. The controller has been designed in a user friendly way for those playing PlayStation. It is the key component for the interaction of the player and the console. The player uses the different key features of the controller to carry out different actions within games. The design of the controller has some good and bad features for this purpose.
Good features of the design may include; using the simple geometric shapes of a green triangle, a red circle, a blue cross, and a pink square to label its action buttons rather than numbers, this way it is user friendly as it is easier for all to understand. Moreover criticism about the size of the controller have been made, it seems to be too small for larger hands, which the is most of the population of game players.
Overall, the design of the PlayStation controller obtains more good features than bad. These features may lead to a user to begin to describe the PS4 controller in regards to its shape, as it is easy to hold and easy grip both hands, allowing for quick action. User's may include the features of such as the 'Share button' in their description allowing for easy sharing by the push of a button, the black color of the controller or describe the intuitive touchpad. Users have a range of aspect to describe about this controller, must prementioned. In conclusion, the PlayStation controllr does presents itself with the usability goals designated by Rogers et al. It is easy to learn, easy to remember, and efficient to use.
